Name:Charlie "Iceskate" Edwards
Bio:

Charlie "Iceskate" Edwards
Charlie was born on the farmlands of Iowa on March 15, 1916. His mother wanted him to be a doctor, but after she died when he was four, his time was spent helping his father fix tractors. His father never remarried, and he had no younger siblings, so for years, it was just the two of them, the derelict tractors waiting to fixed, and occasionally, his father's drifter younger brother. In springs and summers, he worked on neighbors' farms for spending money in addition to working on tractors, and in falls and winters, he read anything he could get his hands on. By the time he was 12, he'd read every book in the nearest town's small library.

He joined the military shortly after high school in 1934 to be a mechanic for bombers, but was drafted into the US Army Air Corps a year later by a general after witnessing him run tests on a recently fixed engine when no pilots were available. When the Battle of Britain broke out in the summer of 1940, Charlie immediately volunteered for the RAF's Eagle Squadron to aid in the fight. He flew Hurricanes, Spitfires, anything that was available. He helped the flight mechanics whenever they'd let him. On a night attack in May 1941, his plane was hit by flak, and he went down roughly 30 miles outside of Paris. He managed to avoid capture by the Germans manning the anti-aircraft guns, and began to make his way to Paris, hoping that each farmhouse door he knocked on was Resistance.
Character Basics

Appearance: Charlie is tall, hitting 6'3". He's not exactly awkward in his body, but he's certainly not graceful either. His hair is dark brown, but lightens in the sun, and his eyes are brown. His hands are rough and callused from working on engines his whole life. The most he ever dresses up is in uniform; he prefers khakis and a tank or an engineer's jumpsuit.

Personality: Charlie likes to believe the best in people, but his service in the military has tempered his optimism with caution. He's loyal to a fault, once he thinks someone's earned it. He's good with his hands, having worked on engines for years. He's more comfortable with machines than people, and more comfortable around his fellow men than women. He's stubborn - once he believes in something, little will ever change his mind.

Strengths: Loyalty. Gifted mechanic.

Weaknesses: Blind loyalty (he will often ignore evidence of someone's betrayal if he trusts them). Horrifically awkward with women, especially those he finds attractive.

Skills/Abilities: Can fix nearly anything mechanical in nature. Military training has made him good with most guns, and he can throw a mean right hook.

PB: Josh Hartnett (circa Pearl Harbor)

This journal is purely for fun, and nothing comes of it. I am not Josh Hartnett, and I own no rights to him or his image. The character of Charles Daniel Edwards (callsign "Iceskate"), however, is of my creation and was created to participate in the C'est La Vie WWII RPG. The content of this journal may not be reproduced anywhere without my consent. The material will be of a mature nature, and no minors are allowed.
